Trick – or -Treat for UNICEF

Dear Parents,

Let’s make this year’s Halloween Count!  Little People will participate in “Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF”.  Your child will learn that he or she can make a difference in the world by volunteering to help.  Your child will receive a UNICEF box from Little People SOON!

Here’s how you can help make Halloween count in 2009:

  1. Talk to your child about things that he or she probably takes for granted:
  • Easy access to food and clean water.
  • The ability to go to school and get an education.
  • Availability of medical help when it is needed.

   2.  Tell your child about the lives of kids who live in other parts of the  world:

  • In many parts of the world, kids drink unsafe water from a river or stream that often makes them very sick.
  • Many kids have never seen a doctor or had the immunizations they need to protect against deadly diseases.
  • Some kids don’t learn to read or write, because they do not have access to school or must work to support their families.

3. Learn how UNICEF helps kids around the world:

  • UNICEF  builds wells so kids can have access to clean water.
  • UNICEF provides 40% of the children in developing countries with their immunizations.
  • UNICEF helps build schools, train teachers and provide school supplies to kids around the world.

To find out more about Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF and how easy it is to participate, go to unicefsua.org/trickortreat.

Sincerely,

Little People

Swine Flu Alert April 27, 2009

Filed under: Health Alerts, News & Updates — cupertinolittlepeople @ 1:16 pm

We are taking extra precaution to ensure that the Swine flu (H1N1) does not spread to our classrooms.  Therefore, we would like to ask parents to remind your kids to wash hands with soap and water before, during and after school.  We encourage your child to stay home if he/she is sick.  Here are some symptoms that you should watch for:  fever, sore throat, coughing, sneezing, body aches, headaches, lack of appetite.  Some people have reported diarrhea and vomiting associated with swine flu.  The symptoms are similar to a regular flu.  However, extra precautions should be taken, since H1N1 virus is highly contagious and there is NO vaccine available to prevent the virus.

CB028871Congratulatoins to the Class of 2009!  On Friday, June 12, we graduated 24 kids from Little People.   And I’m very proud to say that we made a big difference in each child’s life.  We’re confident that each graduate is kindergarten ready!   It’s very hard to let them go but many of them promised to come back and say hi.

The following link contains very helpful information regarding to Kindergarten Readiness.  It talks about kindergarten reading skills, ways to help your child to grow his/her literacy skills, your child’s emotion, your child’s fear, good manners, etc.  A must read!
